Confirmation means Court approval of the plan submitted by the Debtor for reorganizing debts in Chapters, 11, 12, or 13.

Confirmation in Chapter 13 Bankruptcy

In a Chapter 13, a hearing is held on confirmation no later than 45 days after the 341 Meeting.

To confirm the case means to approve the Chapter 13 plan of debt repayment. Once the plan is approved (confirmed), payments begin. Your plan determines how much you pay to the trustee and what debts (such as your home), you continue to pay directly to the trustee.

Chapter 11 and Chapter 12

The timeline and rules for confirming Chapter 11 and Chapter 12 plans are complex vary widely. For more info, talk with your attorney.
